FAQs

Q. Why should I take guitar lessons?
A.
Because playing guitar is fun. It is also proven to make people smarter and more optimistic!

Researchers at the University of California found that kids who took music lessons scored 27% higher on math tests, and 57 points higher on the SAT’s verbal section. So why are the musically inclined a bit brainier? Because, according to Canada’s McMaster University, learning to play an instrument develops the reasoning and spatial centers in the brain. Music also maximizes brain development in the areas related to language and social skills. To prove the point, a comprehensive series of skill tests were done on 5-thousand 5th graders. And in every single test area, kids who were learning to play a musical instrument received higher marks than their classmates. And the longer they had been studying music, the higher they scored. The American Music Conference reports that kids who play an instrument are 52 percent more likely to go on to college than non-music makers. And kids who play music watch less TV and are more optimistic.

Q. Can you give me advice on what kind of guitar to buy?
A. Absolutely! As your teacher I will help you to choose the right equipment for your needs.

Q. Will age be a problem?
A. The age of the student, whether young or old, does not matter. All that matters is that he or she has the desire to play guitar and can maintain their focus for the duration of the guitar lesson

Q. What should I expect from a guitar teacher?
A. Your teacher is (or should be) your personal trainer. People hire personal trainers because they don’t know what to do to get their body looking the way they want. Your guitar teacher should be the same. He should have a plan for your success while giving you the information you need, teaching you the right exercises AT THE RIGHT TIME, showing you how to practice those exercises, and when you should practice them. If you know what your current goals are, your teacher should also know. Your teacher should also have a plan in place for you reach those goals. If you do not know what your current goals are, your teacher should help you see what your goals are and put you on the path that will get you there.

Q. Can I rent a guitar from you?"
A.
Of course! I don't want my students to jump in to buying a new guitar that is not perfect and be stuck with it.

Q. What skill levels do you teach?"
A.
Any skill level from beginner to advanced.
